What is CDP?
Cotton Duck Pad, or CDP, is a preformed fabric pad constructed to deliver years of service under severe conditions. Made from layers of cotton duck fabric impregnated with high-quality nitrile rubber and offers excellent durability and load-bearing capacity.
You will find CDP pads widely used in construction and industry where shock absorption and movement isolation are key requirements in common applications such as bridge bearings, building construction, pipelines and under heavy machinery.
Meeting or exceeding MIL-C-882 and MIL-E-5272 specifications, CDP is a fantastic solution to prevent concrete from flaking or cracking, and it effectively eliminates the need for grout at the connection point. CDP offers you a high strength material, that meets or exceeds MIL-C-882 and MIL-E-5272 specifications and helps extend the life of heavy structures and/or machines by reducing shock and vibration with minimal deflection.
CDP also helps reduce structure induced noise by absorbing mechanical vibrations and preventing metal-to-metal contact. For effective noise isolation, it is imperative that all conductive paths of vibration be identified and addressed with CDP in between the isolated equipment and its support(s).
Originally used as a bridge bearing, CDP is now a go-to material for engineers to use as a structural load bearing element across a multitude of projects looking to accommodate rotation and surface irregularities. The preformed fabric pads can also be bonded together with Fluorogold® (Teflon® infused fiberglass) into a Slide Plate Assembly for use as expansion bearing and as pipe slides, ,.
CDP can withstand loads up to 10,000 psi, depending on size and thickness, but general designs are 2,000 psi or less to help prevent permanent set and for extended service life of equipment and/or structures. Temperature range is -45°F to 200°F
